My name is Amir, and I was born and raised in Tehran, the capital city of Iran. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering in 2014. Driven by a passion for combining quantitative skills with finance, I pursued a master’s degree in Financial Engineering, which I completed in 2017. I then worked for several years as a credit analyst in the banking industry. During that time, I discovered my genuine interest in teaching and doing research. It was the one part of my job that felt truly fulfilling. This realization led me to pursue a Ph.D. in Finance at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. I successfully defended my dissertation proposal in August 2024, and I am on track to graduate in May 2026.
Outside of academics, I do my best to maintain a balanced life. I’m a gym rat who finds peace in a good workout and joy in competitive table tennis and badminton. I also enjoy video games (I like to believe my strategic skills improve my research), listening to music, and watching movies, though I still can't decide if I'm more of a Nolan or Tarantino fan. My friends say I take table tennis way too seriously, but I say if it's not competitive, it's just batting practice!
